The European Biogas Conference: A Hub for Sustainable Innovation

The European Biogas Association (EBA) hosted its flagship event, the European Biogas Conference, at The EGG Brussels in both 2023 and 2024. These events, part of the European Biomethane Week, highlighted the critical role of biogas and biomethane in Europe’s renewable energy transition while showcasing the venue’s unique strengths.

Numbers That Matter

Across the two editions, the conference welcomed over 1,500 participants, including producers, investors, researchers, and policymakers. Attendees engaged in more than 50 expert-led workshops and sessions covering policy, technology, and investment trends. The exhibition area featured over 70 organizations presenting innovative solutions driving progress in renewable energy.

The EGG Brussels, located near the Brussels-South train station, played a pivotal role in the conference’s success. Its 5,000 m² of modular space seamlessly supported plenary sessions, workshops, and exhibitions. The conferences reflected the rapid expansion of Europe’s biogas and biomethane industries, with 2023 production reaching 22 billion cubic meters (bcm) and biomethane achieving a 21% annual growth rate. These numbers highlight the industry’s momentum, mirrored in the lively discussions and innovative ideas shared at The EGG.
