Impact

Doing events differently

At The EGG Brussels, we believe that the way an event is organised matters.

Our impact goes beyond what happens on stage. It includes the energy we use, the resources we consume, the waste we generate, the way people travel, the food we serve and the partners we choose to work with.

Our approach is simple: measure where we can, take concrete action and keep improving.

Sustainability is not a finished project. It is an ongoing process that we integrate into the way we manage our venue and work with our clients, suppliers and partners. This corresponds closely to the commitments in the Environmental Policy: reducing the environmental footprint while continuously reviewing operational practices and ways of working.

Turning commitments into action

Energy

More than 1,000 solar panels have been installed on the roof of The EGG since 2017, providing a local source of renewable energy. The venue also operates a cogeneration system, enabling more efficient combined heat and electricity production.

100% of the electricity supplied to The EGG through the building’s energy contract comes from renewable sources.

Food & food waste

Our catering partners follow a dedicated framework encouraging local sourcing, responsible surplus management and high standards of site cleanliness.

Together with Alpaca Solutions, unconsumed meals suitable for redistribution are recovered and delivered by cargo bike to local charities instead of going to waste.

In 2025, 290 portions were redistributed.

Waste

We work to reduce waste at source and strengthen sorting, reuse and recycling.

A structured four-stream waste sorting system separates residual waste, plastics, cardboard and glass, with post-event checks helping ensure that the system is correctly applied.

Responsible purchasing

What we buy – and who we work with – matters too.

We are progressively integrating environmental, social and governance criteria into our purchasing decisions and supplier relationships, while encouraging responsible, local and transparent practices.

This includes the development of a Supplier Code of Conduct incorporating ESG criteria and a responsible office-supplies approach favouring eco-labelled products.

Mobility

Located close to Brussels-Midi international railway station, The EGG is easily accessible by public transport, helping organisers and participants choose alternatives to individual car travel.

Working together

We cannot improve the impact of events alone.

That is why we maintain an ongoing dialogue with clients, caterers, technical suppliers, business partners, institutions and non-profit organisations to share responsible practices and develop practical solutions together.

Internally, our teams also receive targeted training and take part in discussions around environmental best practices, supported where relevant by external specialists.

Our ambition is not to claim that everything is perfect, but to keep learning, measuring and improving.

Measuring. Acting. Improving.

Our environmental approach is reviewed regularly to take account of new challenges, regulatory developments and the realities of our activities. The Environmental Policy itself is formally reviewed annually as part of this continuous-improvement process.

Because sustainability is not about claiming perfection.

It is about making better choices, event after event.
